I'm not sure if this page can
ever cover everything. At the moment I'm only including designs for
Contemporary/Freeform, Delphis and Aegean wares, the 1950's and 1960's
shapes. I may get round to Traditional wares but i think these were
probably subject to even more variation and idiosyncracy.
Alongside each design I've
tried to indicate the description used at the time (e.g. "sweet
dish"), the shape number and size, together with designers
responsible, the dates when first produced and the ranges in which these
shapes were used. (The measurements are in inches and as far as
possible taken from Poole Pottery sales literature at of the time, and
refer to the longest dimension.) This is a work in progress, where i have
doubts about details I've indicated this with a "?".

If this isn't already confusing,
as well as the cylindrical vase above, 83 is also the number for all four
hand-thrown Delphis shapes below. All range between 5
1/2 and 6 inches tall and were produced
in the early 1970's. |
