Pottery in Your Collections & Pottery on Public Display

I want to post some photos of your favorite pots, because I know many of them will be better then mine.  They don't even have to be made by Poole - I'm that desperate - but they will hopefully be in keeping with this site.  So if you have any photos email them to me with a description and I'll post them here, and thank you to all who have contributed so far.

The link above right will take you to pottery you can actually go and see offline

Poole Pottery Traditional vase 114 QB Ruth Dry

The photo above was sent in by Martin.  The vase is 11.5cm tall, shape number 114, painted in the fabulous QB or "dumb bird" pattern by Ruth Dry who worked at Poole from 1928 to 1935

Another fine feathered design.  This is Ozzie's biscuit barrel.  It stands 6" tall, shape number 230, SN pattern, painted by Vera Bridle between 1923 and 1933

This is Moni and Phill's fantastic freeform vase, shape number 313, painted in PW "loops" pattern by Gwen Haskins between 1955 and '59.  A vase of this shape and pattern was illustrated in Poole Pottery promotional leaflets at the time and must be one of the most spectacular Freeform vases your ever likely to see.

Guy Sydenham Mermaid Figure

This one arrived in my mailbox with the following note attached - Guy Sydenham mermaid, modeled as opposed to thrown, and salt glazed, very early Long Island, the first firing ever to be done there in fact.

Poole Pottery Aegran Charger Julia Wills

Above is Bob's Aegean charger.  Shape number 5, it is signed by Julia Wills who worked on the Aegean range from 1972 until 1978

Poole Pottery Jug 328 FB Painted by Mytle Bond

Above is Brian's Poole jug with a lovely little wren like bird, shape no. 328, FB pattern, painted by Mytle Bond

Poole Pottery Deco Vases 916 AX 916 Anne Hatchard

This is Ozzie's superb collection of bi-colour Deco vases, full of jazzy Egyptian motifs.  The largest pattern AX by Anne Hatchard, C1930, shape 916 stands 16 inches tall

Poole wall plaque

Above: Front and back of a lovely slip cast, pierced, Poole wall plaque, designed by Lily Markus C1950, belonging to Danny

Poole traditional pattern egg cups

This amazing collection of Poole egg cups (shape number 713) belongs to Hilary and  shows, to great effect, the range of patterns used on traditional Poole. I really could spend hours looking at this photo.

Poole Pottery Tony Morris Salmon Tiles

The pottery at Poole started out making tiles and architectural faience (fancy bits to stick onto buildings) in the second half of the 19th Century.  The lucky owner of the salmon tiles above tells me that they were made at Poole by Tony Morris in 2000.
